A huge £250 million indoor tropical spa located near the Trafford Centre has been granted planning permission by the council. The resort will replace the current EventCity events building in Trafford Park, which is being relocated to the old site of Soccerdome.
This three-storey tropical spa will be fitted with waterslides, indoor and outdoor pools, steam rooms, a wave pool, luxury spa experiences and a two-acre wellbeing garden. As well as having warm-water lagoons among spectacular botanical gardens, therapeutic mineral baths and beautifully designed steam rooms and saunas. Amongst these amenities there will also be spaces for other activities such as yoga and pilates, and have several restaurants, parks and parking on site.
Stelian Lacob, CEO of Therme Group UK, stated: “Therme combines sustainable technology with nature and culture to benefit communities around the world”. It is one of the first centres to open in the UK and is said to be a fantastic addition to the area, hoping to benefit several of the council’s priorities including health and wellbeing. This indoor paradise is aimed to provide thousands of jobs and encourage millions of visitors each year – which will benefit the local economy on an enormous scale. Therme Manchester first announced the proposals in July 2019, now full permission has been granted building work is predicted to start shortly.
