Do you believe in setting New Years Resolutions?
Here at The Jacksonheim Property Group, we’re strong believers in frequently setting ourselves new goals.
This year has been a weird one for many. Many of us are still picking up the pieces from the Covid-19 pandemic (sorry – we’re fed up with hearing about it too!). Here’s to 2023 being a fresh start for all of us.
In this blog post, we hope to provide some realistic and achievable New Years Resolutions for 2023 that you’ll stick to throughout January and beyond.
New year, new you?
After doing some research, it seems the trick is to hold yourself accountable to the goals you’re setting. Schedule regular check-ins with yourself to ensure you’re on the right path. Tell a friend so they can ask you for updates. Write it down on a sticky note and place it somewhere you’ll see it often – bathroom mirror? Desktop background?
Manifest it.
We asked a few members of our team what their new year’s resolutions will be for 2023 to give you some inspo.
We hope that by sharing our achievable resolutions with you, you’ll be inspired to start planning for how you too can kickstart the new year.
Asking our team for their 2023 goals
“In 2023, my New Year’s Resolution is simply to be more spontaneous. I’m trying not to set any unrealistic goals but instead setting myself the challenge of saying YES more often. Yes to travelling, yes to coffee dates…”
Megan, Head of Office
Might we be sensing a theme here?
“I want to say yes to more, and to challenge myself by stepping out of my comfort zone. Oh, and most importantly, to keep on top of my laundry pile!”
Phoebe, Junior Interior Designer
We reckon most of us will be trying to achieve Phoebe’s last resolution.
“My resolutions for the new year are to be healthier, to try and spend more time with family, and to achieve the goals I have set for myself.”
Nikita, Customer Service Executive
“I have set myself three goals for the new year. I’m eating healthier, drinking less, and being more productive in my creative aspects of life.”
Jordan, Customer Service Manager
Unsurprisingly, living a healthier lifestyle is also a favourite amongst our team, and probably most of you reading this. As a side note, here are some tips nobody asked for on how you might go about achieving that;
- Sleep earlier
- Wake up earlier
- Walk for at least 30 minutes every day
- Take up a new hobby
- Spend more time in nature
- Meditate
Did you know, walking for at least 30 minutes a day is believed to boost mental health and improve your immune system?
Now back to the resolutions…
“My goals for 2023 include exercising more consistently, and using less screen time on my phone wherever possible. TikTok, I love you, but you’ll be seeing less of me next year (work duties aside, obvs). Lastly, I plan to travel far and wide. After all, life is too short to not see the world.”
Bernice, Marketing and PR Manager
We assume travel is probably going to be on most people’s lists, so it’s worth us pointing out that even just planning a trip is believed to boost your happiness for weeks – so it’s actually good for your health!
Probably not great for your bank account though.
Studies suggest planning to travel is good for your health (but we already knew that)
Last but certainly not least, we asked our Founder and CEO Corin to share some of his wisdom with us;
“In 2023, I want to define my role as a leader. The roles of a leader aren’t necessarily just to come up with all the great ideas. The role of a leader is to create an environment in which great ideas can happen.”
“To do this, I need to make the team feel safe and draw my people into a circle of trust, creating an environment that will allow everyone on the team to become the very best version of themselves.”
Wow. Talk about saving the best til last.
If you find none of our suggestions are tickling your fancy, here are a few more suggestions you might identify with;
- Learn to budget effectively
- Join a club
- Volunteer
- Learn a new skill
- Donate your old clothes
- Take a solo trip
Hopefully you can gain some inspiration from our team, and be sure to check back in 3 months when we grill each other for progress updates!
Whatever you decide to add to your list of resolutions, we hope this year’s attempt is a successful one.
